Roast turkey, homemade stuffing, roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, bread sauce, Christmas Pudding, plus the occasional “adult beverage” represent a sense of comfort and luxury while spending time with those we care about. Between Christmas and the New Year, the festive season often triggers stress and anxiety that result in over-eating tasty delacacies which promote more cravings and unhealthy imbalances within our body’s systems. The result is unwanted pounds and not feeling our best; hence, it’s no wonder that most of us are primed to make a New Year’s Resolution in the weeks ahead. According to Inc.com survey with 2,000 people, the top 3 resolutions in 2019 where surrounding our health:
-
Diet or eat healthier (71 %)
-
Exercise more (65 %)
-
Lose weight (54 %)
Interestingly, about 60% of us make resolutions but give up by mid February. Only about 8% are successful in achieving their goal. Why is this number so low? Research suggest failure comes from:
1. Your goals aren’t clear – why they’re important to you and the reward you will receive.
2. You feel overwhelmed – change is not easy and second guessing yourself throws you off the path.
3. You feel discouraged – it’s easy to become impatient and quit when results are not as fast as you would like.
