What is the GI Map Test?

Your gut is not just a digestive organ. It is where approximately 70 percent of your immune function sits, where serotonin is produced, and where oestrogen is either cleared or recirculated depending on the health of the microbiome.

When the gut is compromised, the effects are felt everywhere: in your hormones, your skin, your energy, your mood and your weight. The GI Map Test UK uses quantitative PCR technology to detect the DNA of bacteria, parasites, yeasts, viruses and other pathogens at levels that standard stool cultures miss entirely.

It also assesses Zonulin, the key marker for intestinal permeability (leaky gut), alongside markers for digestive function, inflammation and immune activity. This is the test I recommend when hormonal symptoms are proving resistant to other interventions, because the answer is often in the gut.

What’s Included in the GI Map Test?

  • 30-minute Zoom pre-test consultation to discuss your symptoms and explain how to complete the test
  • GI Map test kit delivered directly to your door
  • Full new-client health assessment
  • 60-minute results consultation to review your findings in depth
  • Tailored nutrition and lifestyle plan based on your specific root cause findings

What does the GI Map gut health test involve?

The GI Map requires a single stool sample, collected at home using the instructions included in your kit. Once collected, you post the sample to the lab using the pre-paid envelope. The lab uses DNA sequencing to analyse the sample, which means significantly greater accuracy and sensitivity than traditional culture-based testing.

Results take approximately three weeks. Your practitioner analyses the full report before your results consultation, so that your 60-minute session is focused entirely on what your results mean for you and what to do about it. The plan built from your results will address your specific findings: whether that is bacterial dysbiosis, a pathogenic overgrowth, impaired digestive function, gut inflammation or intestinal permeability.

This test is particularly valuable when symptoms have persisted despite eating well, trying supplements or being told everything looks normal. It detects what standard testing consistently misses.

challenges that brings. She makes things simple and easy to understand and what’s more I felt so much better after tweaking a few things with my diet. “

Who is the GI Map Test right for?

This test is right for you if you are experiencing bloating, IBS-type symptoms, reflux, constipation, diarrhoea, or food reactions. It is also strongly relevant if hormonal symptoms persist despite other interventions, if skin is a concern, or if immunity and energy are consistently low.

GI Map Test, Frequently Asked Questions

What is the GI Map Test?

The GI Map Test is an advanced stool analysis that uses quantitative PCR DNA technology to identify exactly what is happening inside your gut. It detects bacteria, parasites, yeasts, viruses and pathogens at levels that standard stool cultures miss entirely, alongside key markers for leaky gut, inflammation and immune function.

How much does the GI Map Test cost?

The GI Map Test UK is priced at £1,067. This includes a 30-minute pre-test consultation, the test kit delivered to your door, a full new-client health assessment, a 60-minute results consultation and a tailored nutrition and lifestyle plan based on your findings.

How is the GI Map Test different from a standard stool test?

A standard stool culture looks for a limited range of pathogens and misses a significant proportion of what may be present. The GI Map Test UK uses DNA sequencing technology which is significantly more accurate and sensitive, detecting organisms at much lower levels and providing a far more comprehensive picture of gut health.

Can the GI Map Test help with hormonal symptoms?

Yes — the gut plays a central role in oestrogen clearance and immune function. When the gut microbiome is compromised, hormonal symptoms can persist despite other interventions. The GI Map Test UK is the test we recommend most often when hormonal symptoms have proved resistant to treatment.
