Apple, Date & Tamarind Chutney 

The most delicious chutney that will go with anything from cold meats to a curry.

Ingredients 

  • 3tsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp each cumin and fennel seeds 

  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder

  • 1tsp ground ginger 

  • 6 medjool dates, chopped 

  • 1/4 tsp salt 

  • 4 tsp Suga Vida or Coconut Sugar 

  • 100g tamarind paste 

  • 1 apple, diced 

Method 

  1. Heat the oil on low heat in a pan then add the cumin and fennel and cook for one minute, stirring. 

  2. Add the remaining ingredients and 150 ml water and mix.

  3. Cook over low hear for about 12 minutes, adding a little more water if needed.

  4. It is cooked when the dates are soft and the chutney looks dark and sticky. 

  5. Leave to cool then transfer to a sterilised far and store in the fridge.
